Blissful Babies was started by Katie in 2020 after completing her Infant Massage Instructor training. Since then, Katie has also trained in Baby & Toddler Yoga and gained her Children's Yoga Teacher Certificate.
Katie is also a qualified KG Hypnobirthing Teacher and runs courses regularly in the local area.
With over 15 years’ experience in safeguarding and direct work with children and their families and a keen interest in early brain development and attachment, Katie decided to train as an instructor in infant massage and yoga so she could share this vital experience with parents.
Katie is an NSPCC Accredited Trainer and a qualified Trauma Informed Practitioner and trainer with Trauma Informed Schools UK. Katie is also a Meditation Teacher and she brings this knowledge into all her infant classes. Additionally, Katie also offers meditation classes for parents and carers.
Katie is also a CEOP Ambassador and an Associate Trainer for the charity Parents Against Child Exploitation (PACE), along with her accreditation by the NSPCC, she also offers safeguarding workshops for parents and carers so they can better safeguard their children. Within this part of her work, Katie also offers parent and child first aid classes both as workshops and as full certified paediatric first aid training courses.
Up until the end of December 2020, Katie was also the Assistant Principal of a large primary school, taking on the leadership of safeguarding and mental health across the school. Katie left this role to spend more time doing what she loves, developing training and well-being support for professionals, parents and families.

Baby yoga classes share gentle yoga style poses and stretches to help baby's physical and emotional development. They are a great way to spend time with your baby and meet other parents. Baby massage is a great way to bond with your baby. The sessions teach parents how to massage their babies in order to support early development and connection. See below for further details.
Parent and carer first aid sessions are a great way to learn basic first aid to help keep your little ones safe. Classes are kept small and have lots of hands on practical elements for you to learn some key life saving skills.

4 week Baby Massage course delivered by a qualified infant massage instructor
In many cultures, the practice of massaging babies is an art passed down from generation to generation. Historians have found evidence of baby massage dating back over 3000 years and in regions as diverse as India, Africa, Asia, New Zealand and the Caribbean. Even today in these countries infant massage is still considered a routine part of childcare, from the moment of birth until the baby is weaned and walking.
Since the mid to late 1990’s baby massage has become very popular in the UK, with more emphasis placed on physical bonding and attachment between the parent and the baby. More and more professionals are now realising the importance of baby massage and are encouraging parents to make baby massage a daily part of their routine.
Benefits to your Baby
There are many benefits of baby massage for both your baby and you. Regular massage can stimulate muscle development and tone and improve your babies mind and body awareness. Many babies who are massaged demonstrate better than average language and physical ability. Baby massage can also help with many common baby ailments that can cause great anxiety for both you and your baby.
Some baby massage benefits:
Promotes bonding and attachment
Stimulates the digestive system
Increases the release of oxytocin ‘The feel good hormone’
Reduces the stress levels and the stress hormone cortisol
Improved sleep patterns and encourages a deeper sleep by regulating the breathing and increases the levels of oxygen in the bloodstream
Relieves symptoms of colic and digestion problems such as constipation and reflux
Helps with teething and cold and flu symptoms
Benefits to you
Mothers can also benefit on a physical level. A mother’s breast milk can be stimulated by massaging her baby and Oxytocin, the hormone that controls feelings of well-being and the nurturing instinct, is much higher when a mother has massaged her baby. The benefits are not just limited to the mother; studies have shown that fathers that massage their babies regularly each night before bed shows they interact much better with their babies than fathers that don’t. On the whole baby massage can help parents feel confident about handling a tiny new-born.
Massaging your baby from an early age is one of the most important forms of communication you can have with your baby. During a Baby Massage class, you will begin to learn about your baby’s non-verbal cues and discover how to communicate with your baby.
The classes provide an inclusive, friendly and supportive environment for new parents to attend with their baby. It can be quite daunting going to go to your first class but you can be reassured that you will be made to feel very welcome. The sessions are a good chance for you to meet new parents with babies of similar age to yours and to start to socialise with your new baby.
The class is for babies aged 4 weeks up until they are too mobile (usually crawling age).
We will cover all massage strokes for the full body, which includes the chest, tummy, legs, feet, arms, hands, back, face and head each week.
All group sessions have a total of 8 carers attending. Groups are purposefully kept small so that the instructor can give everyone as much attention as is needed. Equally, smaller groups allow for a more intimate and nurturing environment.
One to one sessions (or small groups - max 3) in your own home can also be arranged if you cannot attend a class or would like a gentle introduction to get to know Blissful Babies and try it out before coming to class. Open classes will be advertised on our Facebook Page and our Bookings page when available.
What to bring
During your first class you will be given your complimentary cold pressed organic massage oil and a mat will be available to use during the session. At the end of each class you will be given handout notes to help you remember the strokes at home.
New-born baby’s sense of smell is very sensitive and it is important that strong perfumes are avoided during a massage as this can overstimulate the baby and put them off the massage. Baby will be more comforted by the natural and subtle smells of a familiar environment or a familiar object like their towel or blanket. Please bring a towel or blanket along to the class.
What to wear
As the room needs to be warm for the babies, it is advised that you wear comfortable and removable layers. We suggest that baby’s clothes are removed during the massage, you can also remove the nappy, however if you would prefer to keep the nappy on then that is also fine.
Baby Yoga & Toddler Yoga
Baby and Toddler Yoga – 4 Week Course
The word Yoga means 'to unite' and that is what we aim for in the hour long sessions, you and baby uniting and bonding while reaping the many benefits of yoga, which include:
Overall improved growth and development such as coordination, muscle tone, flexibility and brain organisation
Helps reduce stress and tension, releasing happy hormones (Oxytocin) in both parent and baby
Can help with colic and digestive problems for baby
Tones and strengthens muscles postnatally for mum, including pelvic floor muscles
Relaxes baby and can help improve sleep
Aids bonding between parent and baby
Aids communication and language skills
Baby Yoga sessions are a lovely way for both parent and baby to enjoy time together. Sessions use movement and stretches for baby and some gentle ones for parent too. As well as the movement and stretches, we use songs and sensory toys to make it fun for baby and use relaxation techniques to help calm care givers and baby. Classes are usually an hour long.
Classes are suitable for babies from 6-8 weeks - once baby and mum (if it is mum attending) have had their doctors check up. If mum is the adult attending and has had a caesarean birth I suggest 10-12 weeks. Babies can attend Baby Yoga up until they are confidently crawling/standing. These sensory and yoga-inspired sessions are a great way of introducing young children (18 months to before their 5th birthday) to stretches, movements, stories, songs and sensory play and its many benefits. Toddler sessions are also a great follow up to Baby Yoga. The sessions weave basic yoga-inspired poses and movements into songs, traditional and modern stories and sensory play making it fun and engaging for both toddlers and carers.
This sessions can help develop body, mind awareness and coordination, helps to regulate and strengthen the digestive and respiratory systems and stimulate the circulatory and nervous systems, promote relaxation, improve the quality of sleep, offers opportunity for socialisation in groups, encourages listening skills and communication.

Parent/ Carer Course Information
Learning first aid is a life skill that many of us never learn. When it comes to children it is really important that we know at least basic first aid as it could potentially save a child’s life.
We run several courses across the North West on both weekdays and weekends. We can also come to your organisation to facilitate courses for the parents/ carers you work with at nurseries, playgroups, schools and community groups.
The maximum number on all our parent/ carer courses is 12.
The parent/carer courses are ideal for all parents, new parents, expectant parents, grandparents, carers and anyone who looks after and cares for children aged 0-12 years.
All of our courses are delivered by fully qualified and insured first aid instructors.
All our courses train you in providing first aid to babies and children and require concentration and your full attention. Our parent/ carer courses are not suitable for professionals who require emergency or full paediatric first aid training. If full paediatric first aid training is something you need, please get in touch as we also offer this training.

On our parent/ carer courses we cover the following subjects:

Courses are £25 per person. The cost includes the 2.5hour course and a full colour paediatric handbook. Or £40 for two places on the same course, this offer only includes 1 copy of the paediatric handbook, but you can buy an additional copy should you require one for an additional £5.00 on the day of the course.
Most of our chosen venues are fully accessible. However, if you have any specific access or learning requirements/concerns, please let us know in advance.
Host at Home
Alternatively, you may choose to host a course at home. Host a 2 hour paediatric first aid course for 4 or more people for just £25 per person. The maximum number of people for a home course is 12. KGHypnobirthing is a complete antenatal training programme which is simple, logical and profound. Hypnobirthing is centred on releasing fear and building confidence in the natural process of birth through practising relaxation techniques and asking questions about your care. KGHypnobirthing gives you the knowledge and the tools to have the best natural child birth for you. You need information and knowledge in order to get the best from the system in which you find yourself. You need to understand the implications of the choices you may be required to make. Most of all, you need to release fear and learn to trust your body, your instinct, and your baby.
The KGHypnobirthing course covers all of the above which enables you to build confidence in yourself and your abilities. The courses are usually run over 4 sessions, each lasting 3 hours. However, 1:1 courses can be arranged to suit individual timetables.
